Associated Women for Lipscomb

The organization's main purpose is to raise funding for need-based scholarships to Lipscomb University.

AWL was formed on April 16, 1982, when Willard Collins, then serving as president of Lipscomb, hosted a luncheon for 20 women and challenged them to form a new organization that would support and encourage the tradition of excellence initiated by university co-founders David Lipscomb and James A. Harding in 1891.

Today, there are nine chapters of AWL in Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky. Each is dedicated to providing scholarships so deserving students may attend Lipscomb.
