CroatiaOur last travel weekend, myself and 7 other students made our way to Croatia. We’d wanted to visit Plitvice National Park, the place with the beautiful lakes, all semester and finally made the trip down. As we took a bus to Zagreb, I was so glad that this was going to be our last weekend trip. The views out the bus window were beautiful. It had just started to get warm a few weeks prior and everything was starting to bloom. The weather was perfect and I we couldn’t have asked for better weather to explore with.

We stayed in Zagreb, which is about two and a half hours away from the park. Zagreb is a beautiful city, and though we did not do much there, we really loved the little time that we did spend. Zagreb was not really the purpose of our trip to Croatia, so people were ok with foregoing a lot of exploring in the city.

The day we went to the park was beautiful. The bus ride there was pleasant and it was nice to see the more rural parts of Croatia.

When we arrived at the park, we bought our tickets and hopped on the bus to take us to the part of the park that had the trail we wanted to take. There were so many options for trails you could take, some as short as 1 to 2 hours, other 5 to 6. There was so much to see and you could easily pick the trail that was right for the amount of time you had to spend there.

CroatiaWe took the H trail, which showed us all different parts of the park. The trail across the park was unique because while some of it was a dirt path, the majority of the trail resembled a boardwalk. You get the chance to walk over parts of the lake and even over waterfalls. The way they designed the boardwalk style trails really allows you to get close to all the unique features of the park. As you walk over the waters, you can see straight to the bottom of the lakes. The water was so incredibly clear.

While there are waterfalls all throughout the park, large and small, there is one area in particular that is so lush and so beautiful and the water seems particularly blue. In that area of the park we saw some of the biggest waterfalls. One can’t help but be in awe of Gods creation as you walk through and see everything in the park. It was truly stunning and all throughout the park I was just in awe of the beauty around every corner.

I would recommend a trip to Plitvice to anyone wanting to visit Croatia or anyone looking to experience beauty. This place was nothing short of stunning and I am so thankful for the opportunity to go.
